Return to home learning

A new term is beginning and for many parents/careers this may be a daunting time as it signals the return to home learning. For some, it is a question of how to manage to work from home and the supervision of their children. Meanwhile, for others, it is how to motivate their children to engage with the many learning resources that BMS staff have provided.  Daunting does however come in many forms and a common guise is a fear of not being able to support your child as you cannot understand the work or know how to complete it.  It is at this point we need to remember that ‘acts of kindness’ extend to ourselves as well as others. In these times recognise the efforts you are making to enable your child to learn. Be proud of the love of learning you instill in them be it for thirty minutes a day or four hours a day. Every time your child engages with learning they are succeeding. Remember that you are not meant to know everything, this is why schools have specialist subject teachers and embrace this unknown with honesty encouraging your child to research and find the answers for themselves.  Most importantly, it is the time spent with your child that they will remember and come to realise with age is one of the most precious things anyone can give.
