Purposeful Purple Pen

At BMS we encourage students to reflect regularly on their work and their learning journey, providing detailed feedback about next steps and time to respond to take their work to the next level.

Expert dance teacher Miss Dolan shared some superb strategies with all staff at Monday morning’s Staff Briefing meeting to support all colleagues to give really purposeful ‘purple pen moments’ in our DIRT Time or dedicated improvement and reflection time in lessons.

Smart focused feedback and time to improve work remains one of the most powerful strategies to help support excellent progress – something we are really embedding in all classrooms across the school to enable all students to Aspire to Achieve and reach their true potential.
