It was inspiring to read an email on Monday morning of this week and hear about one of our new Year 7 students literally living out our school mantra ‘Our School has a Mind to be Kind’. Martha in 7 Oak, who has made an excellent start to her studies at Bushey Meads already gaining over 30 reward points this term, put this mantra which is at the heart of school into action recently.
Last weekend she gave up her Sunday morning to volunteer at a small local charity, ‘Small Acts of Kindness’. The charity supports older vulnerable people by providing information and care packs distributed throughout winter in Hertfordshire. Despite being the only young person there, she thoroughly enjoyed helping and supporting the charity and was given a special badge as a token of their gratitude. As it is a charity that has links with the Queen, they are permitted to award vulneteers with a Queens Award for Volunteering and she was officially presented with one of these prestigious awards at the end of the morning.
As a school we are really proud of her and want to wish her well for the future as a role model in our learning community.
