Inspirational Teaching and Learning

Each time I walk through the many classrooms at Bushey Meads School I never cease to be inspired by the great teaching and excellent attitudes to learning I see at all levels in the school. In A Block on Thursday afternoon I was incredibly impressed by the efforts and achievement of Mrs Charles’ Year 7 Spanish class, all quietly self assessing their responses to a video listening task that had taken place earlier in the lesson. It was clear that they were all making great progress.

Miss Lister’s Year 12 sociology class (pictured here) had been joined on a voluntary basis by our hard working Year 13 students also studying the subject and nearing their all important A level exams. These students were responding positively to a tried and tested strategy for supporting effective revision is being piloted by a number of key faculties in the school whereby Year 13 students (where possible) join the Year 12 lessons to revise content and learning from the first year of the Sixth Form studies.
In Year 12 Psychology Miss Kwok had introduced a brand new topic and all students were really engaged in finding out all about early brain development and how it changed during pre-adult teenage years. Excellent reports were provided by Mrs Paddick who was teaching the Year 11 French class – predicting some high grades for their GSCE exams. Miss Bailey was also observed effectively supporting her target student in BASE with his vocational music studies at GCSE.
