It has been great to see all the students back in school and eager to develop their skill and performance in the summer activities. This term will see students take part in athletics, cricket, rounders, softball and tennis and will hopefully finish with the School Sports day in July. There are an extensive range of extra-curricular clubs available which can be found on the school website in the calendar section as well as all details being shared with the students via the google classroom.

A reminder that this term we will be making use of the mimoveapp site which is a new health tracking app we are piloting with KS3 students. Students have all been given free access to the app/website and are being asked to record all physical activity they take part in and the emotional benefits they experience from taking part. This will help to give us a clearer picture of how active and healthy the students are at BMS. All KS3 students should be recording all PE lessons, extra-curricular sports clubs and outside sports clubs onto the site as part of their weekly PE homework. We look forward to sharing the results of this new initiative over the next few months.

Sports Leadership

Congratulations to the 19 Year 11 Sports Leaders who have all successfully passed the Level 1 Sports Leadership qualification following the Quality Assurance check before easter. Over the easter holidays the new Year 10 group of their leaders started their formal training by developing their understanding of the skills and behaviours required to be a successful Sport Leader in school. They took part in series of practical and theoretical challenges including team building, problem solving and games making activities. It was great to see the enthusiasm for the role and we look forward to tracking their progress over the next few months as they look to take on more responsibility across the Faculty.

HOUSE NETBALL – SJC
Year 11 – The conclusion of the year 11 House netball competition took place this week. Lots of hard fought games and much laughter was evident throughout, from all of the teams. Much to the delight of CDC’s Mrs Cartledge and Mrs Cooper it was 11 Maple who came out victorious. With 5 years of very few sporting wins this was a great effort from the girls who certainly showed that teamwork, commitment and hard work lead to success in the end.

Team: M.Boyle, Y.Ghorbi, V.Kutten, R.Mullan, S.Sivadasan, A.Tamang

Overall result:
Maple
Elm
Beech and Sycamore
Ash
Willow
Oak
