Infra Dance

During this practical lesson, the year 10 GCSE students worked in small groups to create unpredictable choreography phrases inspired by dance action words.

At a time where physical activity is increasingly seen as a vital part of our overall well being, it was excellent to visit a dance lesson in the hall. Adhering to the latest COVID guidelines that allow dance within a school setting with limited face-to-face contact it was interesting to see how staff and students had accommodated this guideline in their work. Combining theoretical and practical knowledge our dance students created a routine into their current nit of study Infra. Infra is a professional dance group that uses experimental choreographic processes with the contemporary dance style.

Providing students with a powerful form of non-verbal communication dance enables the development of creative, imaginative, physical, emotional, and intellectual capacities. Embedding at its heart our school ethos of our 3Rs of Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships these students demonstrated self-discipline in both their moves and consideration for others whilst creating a supportive culture of reflection. In a lesson focused on choreography and performance, it allowed students to explore their intellectual curiosity and develop a creative mindset of growth.
