A Key Focus on Oracy across the Bushey St...

Staff at Bushey Meads are working hard in the ‘new normal’ we are having to operate in to ensure that we all keep safe. Our Staff Briefings used to be held in our Staffroom but now take place in our large Main Hall, ensuring that all staff keep at least 1 metre from each other and facing the front for the important meeting that lasts no more than 10 minutes – all compliant with Public Health England close contact guidance.

On Monday our Lead Practitioner for English and Whole School Literacy and top teacher Ms Bowe outlined our very important focus for the year – Oracy which is a development strand involving all three schools within our Multi Academy Trust.

She provided some really good tips for all classroom practitioners that could be used straight away, including different ways to approach questioning with students that is more inclusive and engaging with all learners and opens up and encourages even more opportunities for debate and discussion.

It was a very positive way to start our week.
