Year 10 Art Ceramic Workshop –...
At our last enrichment day, students in year 10 completed a full day workshop, creating coil pots and then decorating them with reliefs of letters and items to do with their interests and hobbies. This ties in with the topic of Identity which they are working on for their GCSE coursework. Students looked at the work of artist and ceramicist Grayson Perry, who makes coil pots and decorates them with themes to do with Identity too and this sparked interesting discussion and ideas of what sort of objects students would design for their own pots.
In subsequent lessons students then glazed their ceramic pots which had been fired in the department kiln. The finished pieces are looking beautiful on display in the art department and will also go towards the students’ GCSE coursework.
