What did you do this Weekend?

The team at the beginning of the event

I completed my first Tough Mudder Endurance Event which was one of the hardest physical things I have ever done. It is a half marathon with 21 obstacles such the Arctic Enema, Everest and the Block Ness Monster. We completed it to raise money for the Lewis Moody Foundation which is a Brain Tumour Charity.

The Mud Mile

To complete a Tough Mudder you have to work as a team, the strength of one person is nothing compared to the power of a team. Tough Mudder’s full lineup of team-oriented obstacles guarantees that you’ll cross the finish line with more friends than you started with. Whether it’s through a helping hand or an extra vote of confidence, my fellow team Mudders were with me every step of the way.

I was in a team of six friends and without their help and encouragement I honestly don’t think I would have completed the course!

The hardest part for me was running up the hills however I found doing all the obstacles really enjoyable. I had two epic fails on trying to reach the top of Everest but finally on my third attempt I managed to grasp my teammates hands and they pulled me up and over the top.

Finally making it over the top with their help

The hardest obstacle for me was the Arctic Enema where you have to slide down a tube into a skip full freezing cold water then submerge yourself again and swim under a central wall to the other side which is filled with iced water and ice cubes!

I’m really glad that I did the event and feel proud to have completed it with a group of friends. So far we have raised nearly £1400 for the charity!
