Year 6 and Year 12 Dive into IT Lessons

This week, I had the absolute pleasure of teaching both our talented Year 6 pupils from across the Trust and our new Year 12 students in IT and what a fantastic experience it was.
Our Year 6 pupils took part in lessons focused on Microsoft Excel. They explored how to plan a birthday party on a budget, learning essential spreadsheet skills such as entering data, calculating totals using formulas and managing expenditure.

The pupils worked brilliantly, producing outstanding work and showing real enthusiasm throughout the lesson. It was wonderful to see how quickly they grasped the concepts and applied them with such confidence.
Also, our new Year 12 students took their first steps into web development this week. They explored key concepts in web technology and created simple websites promoting a culture of their choice.
This valuable introduction not only built their skills but also laid the foundation for September, when they will begin their brand new AAQ Level 3 IT qualification where they will follow a specific client brief to plan and develop a website in depth.
It was a real privilege to teach Year 6 and Year 12. I was especially proud of their engagement, creativity and positive attitude. Watching them engage so fully in their learning reminded me just how exciting the future of IT is here at Bushey Meads School.
I look forward to welcoming these students back to the IT classroom in September, ready to build on the brilliant start they’ve already made.
