Vertical Tutoring comes to BMS!

This week has seen the exciting switch to Vertical Tutoring at Bushey Meads. This has meant that our morning Character Development Time has changed over from single year groups to a mixture of students from Year 7 to Year 12. I know that this has been for many the first time that students have experienced this and I must say I have been so impressed with the maturity and engagement that the students have shown.

With such a wide range of students it was anticipated that nerves would play some part in the first day, but with activities designed to get the students talking and with the theme of the 2 weeks being Adventure, the students certainly embraced the change and many have thrived.
Being able to share experiences with each other, with the younger students learning much about how the older school works, Vertical Tutoring has been such a powerful experience so far. In speaking with Malachi in Ash House and a current Year 12 student, He described how it’s been ‘fun to work with the younger students and I have been talking about what Sixth Form is like with them’.
Next week in BMS News we can look forward to reports from each of our Heads of House about the experiences of Vertical Tutoring, so do check back next week for those. I for one want to thank and congratulate all the students for their efforts so far, it’s certainly been a significant change that our students have taken into their stride and are so impressive with their efforts.
