It was a real pleasure to be able to walk around and visit so many wonderful enrichment day activities last Friday. One of the nicest highlights was in the Year 10 French and Spanish immersion events. As soon as I walked into each of these rooms, I got a real flavour of the culture of both France and Spain. The music, the table decor, the displays around the room and even the food and drink being served, was all purposely linked to the relevant country and culture. The students were really enjoying the experience and I’m sure, really appreciated the great efforts our wonderful MFL teachers went to in order to put on such a memorable experience.
Below, is a brief summary of the days activities from our passionate Head of MFL, Ms Charles:
Enrichment day for Year 10 MFL students comprised a role play activity, a treasure hunt and an interactive film clips session.
The day started with students conducting role plays in French and Spanish café scenarios. Role plays will feature in the students’ GCSE exam so this activity was very relevant to their course and also enriched them culturally. Once students had mastered the vocabulary, they ordered their breakfast in French and Spanish and had great fun doing so!
The next activity focused on French and Spanish schools and MFL students completed a school vocabulary treasure hunt which involved them leaving the classroom and searching for clues across the BMS site. They used phones to scan QR codes which gave them the clues they were looking for.
Finally, we gave students an insight into French and Spanish film culture with a range of interactive activities on French and Spanish popular film clips. Our students now know so much more about foreign language films and we hope that they enjoy watching more at home!
A huge well done to the MFL team and all of the Year 10 MFL students!
