House Assemblies Having a Huge Impact

We are extremely fortunate at Bushey Meads to have such a great team of inspiring and dedicated Heads of House heading up our seven different and unique Houses across the school. Each Head of House brings their own distinct leadership flavour to their House family but all of them care immensely about the students in their care; all of them want each and every child to be successful and happy. House Assemblies do have a different vibe to our usual Year Group or Main School Assemblies and they provide an occasion where we see our superb sixth formers rubbing shoulders and being such great role models to the younger students in their House.

Mr Cox is Head of Elm House and his assembly on Wednesday was one of the most powerful I have seen in many years at Bushey Meads. Basing his message around a very clear image on the big screen in the Main Hall, he talked about success being a journey and one that can be celebrated at every small step along the way. Tying it into our all-important ‘Keys to Success’ he reminded students that the ‘starting’ is as important as the ‘keeping going’. Each and every one of us will have goals and aspirations and success will look different for each person. The main thing though is that each and every student in his assembly would have been inspired to take that ‘next step’ towards their goal.

Other Heads of House this week have created powerful online assemblies which CDCs have played in CDC time and some have also encouraged students to take part and share their ideas in the Main Hall about the important Theme of the Week SUCCESS – something at the very heart of our wonderful school.
