On Monday of this week we welcomed highly acclaimed keynote speaker Isabella Wallace to Bushey Meads School as part of our annual conference across the Bushey St James Trust. Isabella, who is the author of several publications including Pimp Your Lesson and Talk-less Teaching, delivered an inspiring presentation at all three schools within the Trust and is pictured here being introduced in our Main Hall by Lead Practitioner for English and Whole School Literacy Ms Bowe who coordinated the whole conference and should be congratulated for her hard work in ensuring it was such a success. Throughout the day staff across the Multi Academy Trust also attended workshops and engaged in planning time in faculty groups to embed lots of excellent practical ideas related to the theme of the conference ‘Enhancing the Power of Talk’. I am sure that students at Bushey Meads will really benefit from the high quality training that staff received on that day as we continue to work hard to ensure that oracy, pupil discussion, effective questioning in the classroom, listening and debate all feature as increasingly important aspects of our pedagogy in classrooms throughout the school.
