Start Well – End Well!

Start Well – End Well!
This phrase is so important and provided a timely theme for our first Monday Magic Moment of the term last week as staff returned from the two week Easter holiday. Top teacher and experienced school leader – Senior Assistant Headteacher Ms Knowles applied the concept to her presentation given in the Staff Briefing meeting entitled Successful Starts. She explained that a successful start to a lesson often leads to a very successful lesson overall.
She reminded all colleagues of the expectation to greet students by the door in a friendly manner, ensure uniform expectations are followed, remind students to put their bags on the floor, get their pens and pencils out, their books on the desk and coats on the back of the chair and to make sure an engaging ‘Do Now’ activity on the board is provided for students to complete as the register is taken.
Students have their responsibilities to: to make sure they wear their uniform correctly, have all their equipment for learning, start the Do Now Activity promptly and follow the ‘One Voice’ rule at all times – showing respect, taking responsibility and building positive relationships with staff and students alike.
I would like to thank all parents and carers for their ongoing support with this and encourage you to continue to have those all-important conversations to ensure the expectations we all have are followed each and every day in school.
