Reading to improve our strong culture of learning was reinforced by two of our top teachers on Monday morning in our Staff Briefing meeting. The ‘Monday Magic Moment’ was delivered by Advanced Lead Teachers Mr Gray and Mr Symeou who were launching afresh this year’s Professional Development Reading Group across the Bushey St James Trust.
The group seeks to regularly promote the reading of short online articles (no more than 10 minutes reading time) to develop pedagogy further across a number of key areas of professional practice. Staff read, discuss and implement ideas gained from the articles and incrementally improve their own practice. Best practice by Reading Group Champions is then shared in faculty groups to further promote the impact of professional development on improving our classroom practice and raising the achievement of the young people in our care.
We are hoping that staff from across the three schools in our Multi Academy Trust get involved in reading the articles and also in joining together once a half term to share the impact of their development across the Trust. The first meeting is on Tuesday 12th October at 3.30 pm in D1 in the Music Department here at Bushey Meads School.
Key members of the BMS Teaching and Learning Team and other exemplary staff shared some simple but highly effective strategies for enabling students to smartly self and peer...
