Quality First Teaching
Our Monday Magic Moment in Staff Briefing at the start of the week focussed on our core activity of quality first teaching. Led by Head of Standards, Safeguarding and SEND Mrs Ash, she reminded all staff of the everyday strategies that we can use as Teachers and Learning Assistants to ensure that all students whatever their ability can make good progress. Differentiation or adaptive teaching methods, an inclusive approach based around the use of lots of praise and encouragement and ongoing assessment for learning to highlight sears of strength and those that need developing are the bedrock quality first teaching.
Clear learning objectives, high engagement of all learners, the use of excellent questioning throughout the lesson and a strong emphasis on pupil-talk activities are all strategies that we use on a daily basis at Bushey Meads. It was a timely reminder to ensure we continue to deliver high quality learning experiences here at our wonderful school.
