DEVELOPMENT TABLE TENNIS FESTIVALS
The Year 8 and 9 table tennis teams have recently taken part in the Development Table Tennis Festivals at Grange Academy. Thursday 24th November saw the year 8 and 9 teams in action with the Year 9 team recording wins over Immanuel (3-1) and Grange (4-0) before going down 4-0 to a very strong Watford Boys team. The year 8 boys although not winning any matches overall certainly benefited from the experience with improvements in performance in all matches.

Year 9 A Muraj, R Christou-Totesaut, A Worth, A Linsdell-Turk
Year 8 P Kannan, A Sanga, H Wills, C Pearce

Year 8 Boys Football Match vs Croxley Danes Mr Harris

Date : Monday 28th November 2022
Result : 2 – 2
Scorers: F. Fowler, N. Walters
Squad: J. Hiett (GK), Z. Zeb, S. Ardeleanu, L. Avci, H. Neal, H.McManus, N.Walters, F. Fowler, L. Bird, N. Konopka, S.Jabarkhail, J. Cunningham.
Commended performances: J. Hiett, S. Ardeleanu.Comment : On Monday, we faced Croxley Danes School (CDS) in a cagey and wet fixture. We arrived at CDS when the heavens opened, but this didn’t dampen any spirits of the students at the game. We started the game slowly, with CDS creating some of their own chances by passing the ball around the midfield well. Later during the game, we were able to get a foothold in the game and we started to play some nice football whilst being wary of the threat posed by CDS on the break. We created a number of chances from runs in behind and down the wings from all. We were confident in our ability. Midway through the first half we went behind to a good shot from CDS just outside the box. Following this, we managed to pull one goal back from N. Walters as he drove through with the ball through the defence and managed to slot past the keeper.

Towards the latter end of the half, J. Hiett made a number of fantastic saves to keep us in the game, most notably where CDS shot across the goal and J. Hiett tipped the shot onto the post and the ball was subsequently cleared off the line. Into the second half we managed to get ourselves ahead by a nice finish from F. Fowler. We looked to increase the intensity in the game to create some more chances. Again, midway through the second half, we lost concentration and conceded from a free kick outside the box. From there, we didn’t let our heads drop, we were able to create a few more chances between then and the end of the game with N. Konopka & L. Avci came extremely close, hitting the crossbar in the process. It wasn’t to be in the end and the game finished in a 2 – 2 draw. A good result for both teams. One final league game to go and cup competition. Well done to all involved so far this season.

Year 7 Netball Match v Immanuel College – Mrs Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 30th November 2022
Result : Lost 7-5
Squad: M.Huryta, J.Isles, A.Permeti, E.Yeboah, Y.Khan, S.Verrey, A.Lankshear, E.Hanbury, S.Alcendor. N.Mosanenzadeh-Fard
Commended performances: A Permeti ( voted by Immanuel)
Comment: Immanuel started strong from the start and put us under pressure with some quick and accurate passing. The girls started to adapt to the slippy indoor court and began to get back in the game with some strong interceptions in the centre court and a slower attack to reduce footwork. At half time the score was 3-1. In the second half the girls created more space by moving more and this really paid off and we were back in the game drawing 5-5 with 5 minutes to go. Unfortunately Immanuel managed to gain possession by making some interceptions and they went ahead by two goals. This was a great effort by the year 7 girls and with more experience in game situations the girls will progress and develop their skills further. Well done.
