FOOTBALL
Year 7A Boys v Marriots (County Cup) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Wednesday 2nd October 2024
Result: Lost 2 – 1
Scorers: N. Cunningham
Squad: C. Dias (GK), R. Gurney, J. Hayward, J. Muraj, C. Killpack, T. Kearney, B. Hemmings ©, N. Cunningham, C. Vaughan, B. Stanley, A. Hodgson
Commended performances: C. Dias
Comment: A trip to Stevenage for the Year 7 boys, resulted in a disappointing defeat. We faced a good Marriots School side, playing on a short pitch the boys found it difficult to win back the ball against some strong players. We created a chance early on in the game but after that, our chances were few. Soft goals conceded and lapses of concentration caused us to fall to defeat. A late consolation goal from N. Cunningham provided some promise going into the final 6/7 minutes, but agony as C. Killpack’s last minute equaliser was ruled out for offside. An unfortunate start and finish to the County Cup competition but the boys now move into the County Plate.
Year 7A Boys v Westfield (District Division 1) HOME Mr Harris
Date: Thursday 3rd October 2024
Result: Lost 3 – 1
Scorers:
Squad: F. Carney (GK), R. Gurney, J. Hayward, F. Murphy, J. Muraj, C. Killpack, T. Kearney, B. Hemmings ©, N. Cunningham, C. Vaughan, D. Hope, A. Hodgson
Commended performances: F. Carney
Comment: F. Carney came into the team today and put on a very good display in goal. Similar to the day before, we struggled against another physical school and we fell to a defeat. After taking the lead in the game, we had a bit of control but we gave away an unfortunate penalty which led to their equaliser. From that point, we were unable to create many more chances as the game was crowded out in the middle of the pitch. Late on in the game we conceded the third and the game was beyond doubt. No matter how hard the boys tried in the game, we struggled to make the breakthrough.
Senior Boys v Chauncy (County Cup) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Friday 4th October 2024
Result : Lost 4-1
Scorers : K Larkin
Squad : H White (GK) (13), F-R Hale (GK) (13), K Larkin (13) (Capt), A Chaudhry Shamas (13), C Hughes (13), A Douglas-Grant (13), K Tinriover (12), B Little (12), I Harry Brown (12), J Gladdy (11), G Guainiere (11), M Wong (11), J Harris (12)
Commended performances : H White, J Gladdy
Comment : The boys put in a committed effort but eventually went down to a 4-1 defeat with defensive errors proving vital. The long journey to Ware for the 1st Round fixture saw a keenly contested game with both teams having a number of chances. However Chauncy proved more clinical and were rewarded with a deserved victory.
Year 11 Boys v Parmiters (District PREM League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Mon 7th October 2024
Result : Drew 1-1
Scorers : G Guainiere
Squad : G Guainiere(Capt), Z Watson, B Okeke, M Wong, S Mowle, Z Bertie, E Ansa Otu, R Christou Totesaut, K Fung, J Allan, L Fearnside
Commended performances : R Christou-Totesaut, B Okeke, E Ansa-Otu
Comment : Another fantastic performance from the Year 11 boys saw them nearly grab another Premier League win. Despite missing 2 key players the boys played with confidence and showed great defensive organisation and effort. R Christou-Totesaut was outstanding in an unfamiliar CD position and the boys were 5 minutes away from a victory after G Guainiere put the boys into 2nd half lead. A late equaliser for Parmiters was disappointing but did not take away from a great effort by the team .Well done all !
Year 10 Boys v Rickmansworth (District PREM League) HOME Mr Harris
Date : Mon 7th October 2024
Result : Lost 2 – 0
Scorers:
Squad: J. Hiett (GK), M. Donnelly, N. Konopka, K. Banfield, R. Cooper, L. Avci, K. Gibson, H. McManus, N. Walters, F. Fowler, H. Wills, H. Neal
Commended performances: J. Hiett (GK)
Comment: A tough performance against a well-drilled footballing side this week saw us fall to our first defeat of the season. We faced up against Rickmansworth School on Monday afternoon and despite the best efforts of the boys, we ended up losing the game. We struggled to get a foothold in this match and assert our dominance on the performance, especially in the midfield as Rickmansworth were able to work the ball well through the lines and often had an outlet available. J. Hiett was the star performer in the game, after getting a boot to the face in the first half with a heroic dive at a player’s feet to stop them from having an opportunity, he continued this positive performance making some key saves during the game to keep the score down. Late in the game, he continued his excellent performance.Onto the next match on Wednesday afternoon.
Year 8A Boys v Westfield (District Division 1) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Tuesday 8th October 2024
Result : Won 7-2
Scorers : N Gibson 2, D Mason, Z Butler, C Allan, A Cohen, G Jabarkhail
Squad : O Woodbrock (GK), O Phillips (Capt), N Gibson, C Allan, G Jabarkhail, G Fogden, D Isles, T Colby, Z Butler, D Henry, R Samin, D Mason, A Cohen
Commended performances : N Gibson, G Jabarkhail, D Mason
Comment : The boys made it 2 League wins out of 2 with a convincing win over Westfield. Some fine first half goals put the boys in command with two superb strikes from N Gibson worth a special mention. The boys controlled the game in the second half showing some improved passing football. Well done all !
NETBALL
Year 11 v St.Joan of Arc (League) Home Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 2nd October 2024
Result : Won 13-10
Squad : M.Bazile, M.Baines, L.Qarib, L.Winslett, E.Bird, S.Doran, V.Hill
Commended performances : Everyone! Special mention to V.Hill as opposition player of the game.
Comment : An end to end game saw the BMS team come out ,deservedly, victorious. A close first quarter saw both teams finding their way into the game, with the defences coming out on top. BMS stepped up their performance in the second quarter and the shooting was excellent with almost all attempts converted ensuring a lead was built and never conceded. This was an impressive performance from the girls who have not beaten their opposition in previous seasons. An excellent performance – Well done.
Year 7 v St.Joan of Arc (League) Home
Miss Sunpongco
Date : Wednesday 2nd October 2024
Result : Lost 8-20
Squad : N. Mowle, A. Bateman, O. Morris, J. Hearn, F. Shire, L. Tokai, F. Sheward and E. Coetzee
Commended performances : N Mowle chosen player of the match by the opposition team.
Comment : The girls put in great efforts to get the ball down court. It was a hard competition, the defence worked well together with some great interceptions and rebounds turning overball. They all did great in trying to close down the lead by half time. The girls kept their head up and scored a few more goals but unfortunately conceded by a few more goals in the last quarter. As the teams first ever game, they all worked really well together and put in huge efforts. Well done!
