Year 7 Spanish Enrichment Day: A Cultural...

On Wednesday 18th June, Year 7 Spanish students took part in an exciting Spanish Enrichment Day, giving them the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the vibrant culture of Spain.  The day began with an energetic Flamenco workshop where students were introduced to this traditional and expressive Spanish dance.  Guided by a professional instructor, students learned the basic steps, rhythms and movements, developing their confidence and enthusiasm as they performed together.  The workshop was a fantastic way to bring language learning to life and gave students a real insight into Spanish traditions.

In the afternoon, students visited a Spanish tapas restaurant, where they experienced authentic Spanish cuisine.  They had the chance to taste a variety of traditional dishes, practise their Spanish in a real-life setting, and learn more about dining customs in Spain.  The experience encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones and engage with language in a meaningful and enjoyable way.

The day was a great success, with students demonstrating excellent behaviour, curiosity and a willingness to embrace new experiences.  It was wonderful to see them so engaged and enthusiastic about Spanish language and culture.

Events like this play an important role in showing students that language learning goes far beyond the classroom.  I look forward to offering more opportunities like this in the future.
