Mission to Mars

During our enrichment day, Year 8 took part in the design and technology challenge ‘Mission to Mars’. Students were given the task of creating a Mars rover that was able to carry rock samples, 6 Maltesers, over rough terrain like that on the surface of Mars.

Students worked in their character development groups and divided themselves into teams. Each team was then tasked with creating a team name, logo, flag and vehicle design as well as finding out about the previous Mars Rover missions. Each of these activities earned the teams points to determine the winning team in each character development group.

All of the teachers were very impressed with the designs of their Mars rovers and the teamwork shown by all of the students. The students were extremely proud of their vehicles and enjoyed getting to eat the Maltesers after their test run.
