Even in this last week of term, staff were sharing best practice in our usual morning Staff Briefings and we were privileged to hear from Mr Chalkley, Head of Design and Technology share how he is developing greater independence in their learning with all his students. Encouraging them all to develop ‘executive functions’ to find their own solutions to problems they may encounter and ensuring that they have a packed toolbox of learning characteristics is key. He also showcased the online platform Seneca which we would encourage all our students to be using on a daily basis and work on achieving those marginal gains – a 1% improvement every day for a year secures nearly 40% improvement overall – worth aiming for!
