CEO of Greenshaw Learning Trust tours Bushey...

On Wednesday of this week it was a privilege to welcome Will Smith to Bushey Meads. He spent some time talking to our Chair of Governors Di Hoeksma and Vice Chair of the Trust Nick Smith, discussing the latest education agendas and reflecting on the importance of outward looking partnerships and the real value of being in a Multi Academy Trust such as the Bushey St James Trust that Bushey Meads is so proud to be a part of.

The highlight of his visit however was a tour of the school. Having previously been at Bushey Meads, he could clearly notice tangible improvements to the environment for learning and could see the potential impact of the planned £1.3 million refurbishment of A Block, due to start later this term.

He commented on the real focus and high engagement in all lessons, the amount of work students were completing and the very high expectations of all teachers and learning assistants. Above all though, he was struck by the number of smiles he encountered from all those he met – staff and students alike. The enthusiasm for the school is very clear and his visit reaffirmed how safe and secure our learning environment is for all students.

Will also watched the personal video message from Mo Farah shown at the morning’s Sycamore House Assembly and was very impressed with how Mr Sylvester, our new Head of Sycamore House, had inspired the students with his famous connections!

Will also spoke to a number of Sixth Form students, in and out of lessons and was impressed with their aspirations, hard work and contribution as leaders across the school community.
