Our year 10 Prince’s Trust class are currently working on the Community Project Unit. During our lessons, we have discussed many projects to get involved with and what we can do to help others less fortunate than ourselves.
After much consideration, we decided that we wanted to help sick children. The way we are going to do that is to make care packages for sick children in Watford General Hospital on the Starfish Ward who might be bored and need some cheering up.
This is where you come in… We need things to put in the care packages, so we are reaching out to the wider school community to donate any unwanted items such as: soft toys, cards, colouring pens or pencils, books, dvds, blankets, key rings, bookmarks, bath items, note pads, colouring books, activity books, magazines, games, toys. As well as needing items to go in the boxes we need the boxes themselves, so if you have any shoe boxes lying around please donate them too.
We will be holding some fundraising activities to raise money. Our first event is a cake sale taking place on Monday the 18th of March.
The money raised will help us purchase additional items for the care packages. Any remaining money will be donated to the hospital directly.
If parents wish to donate, there will be a box inside the doors of reception for you to leave your donations. Students are asked to place their donations in a box outside the staff room. All items will be used in care packages for children so could I please ask that they are age appropriate.
We will be gratefully receiving donations between Monday 18th of March and Friday 5th April.
If you need to talk to anyone about this project then please contact our teachers Miss Burton or Miss Hazell using the following email addresses: burtone@busheymeads.org.uk or hazellch@busheymeads.org.uk.
We will keep you updated you on the progress of our project.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely
Chloe Tattam
