Over in D&T, with the end of the school year looming, our students have been working hard to complete their projects!
Year 9 textile students have been developing their sewing skills, by producing a pair of shorts, incorporating a number of decorative and constructive techniques, including tie-dye and block printing. Here are some of the fantastic finished pieces completed by Ruby Richards, Samarth Sharma, Emilia Donald and Amir Mohammed Khan and Angela Muca.
Year 12 students, Franchesca Boscelli and Crystal May both persevered with the extremely challenging task of creating a corset. It may look deceptively simple, but there are lots of different factors that must be considered and they must be done with 100% accuracy to make sure the corset is completed perfectly! And oh boy, did they rise to the challenge! The girls worked hard to draw out the panelled garment, using detailed calculations, pattern drawing techniques and careful construction to create their show-stopping pieces, as you can see below!
Ms Amao also managed to squeeze in a mini-make and made herself a toiletry bag with some recycled designer fabric swatches!
Fashion club finished off the year with a cropped t-shirt; Year 7 Lucy and Year 8 Angel both have been working away, getting the last stitches secured and in place!
Well done to all our hard-working students, have a wonderful summer break!
