We’re excited to announce the upcoming Year 9 Girls Engineering Summer School, a fantastic STEM opportunity for budding scientists and mathematicians to delve into the captivating world of engineering. This non-residential programme, spanning four exciting days, is designed to ignite curiosity, foster hands-on learning, and inspire future careers in engineering.
About the Engineering Summer School
If you have a passion for Maths and Science and are curious about Engineering as a potential career, this summer school is tailor-made for you. Open to year 9 girls, the programme aims to showcase the diverse disciplines within engineering that await those who continue their studies in science and maths beyond GCSEs.
What to ExpectTaking place at Imperial’s South Kensington campus, the Engineering Summer School promises a dynamic experience. Guided by a mentor, you’ll be part of a small group, embarking on a journey of exploration. The first day includes team-building activities and an introduction to Imperial, setting the stage for an immersive experience. Days two and three will be filled with taster sessions from various engineering departments, including:
Each day will conclude with reflection activities, providing you with the opportunity to record your newfound knowledge about different engineering fields, essential skills for engineers, and potential career paths. The grand finale will be a showcase where each group presents an engineering concept learned during the week to peers, leaders, family, friends, and invited guests.
Logistics and Funding
This fully funded summer school, sponsored by Imperial College London, covers all course fees, materials, and even includes lunch. Please note that it is a non-residential programme, and accommodation will not be provided. Participants and their parents or guardians are responsible for daily transportation to and from the campus.
