A Powerful and Poignant Assembly

Assistant Headteacher Ms Knowles led some powerful and poignant assemblies this week to coincide with Remembrance Day and provided students with a chance to reflect deeply and think about the sacrifices that so many people have made to ensure we enjoy relative peace in our world. In her well crafted assembly a short media clip of Captain Sir Tom Moore being interviewed on national television was a humbling reminder of how all those who took part in conflicts around the world often don’t consider themselves as heroes, but speak instead of how it has shaped their own character

As they realise that they are the lucky ones. Often it motivates them (as it did with Major Tom) to think of others as more important than themselves, demonstrated by his amazing charitable walk that raised so many millions of pounds for our dedicated NHS workers during the recent pandemic.
