Last Thursday, our year 8 students had an incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of STEM during our Enrichment Day. The day was packed with inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, and engaging activities, all designed to help students explore the vast range of career opportunities available in STEM fields.
We were delighted to welcome nationally recognised external agencies, including Rendle and Thames Water, who delivered insightful sessions about the vital role STEM professionals play in shaping the world around us. These sessions covered everything from cutting edge water treatment technologies to how engineering solutions impact our daily lives, giving students a real world perspective on the industry.
Alongside these fantastic external sessions, students also attended internal Computing workshops where they learned about different types of engineering careers and the pathways to achieving them. They had the unique opportunity to watch and listen to engineers discussing their daily work and the challenges they solve, whether it’s developing sustainable energy solutions, designing next generation technology, or tackling global environmental issues.
To round off the day, our Year 8 students put their creativity to the test by delivering some truly inspiring presentations on the careers they aspire to pursue in the future. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and ambition shine through, with students expressing interest in careers ranging from robotics engineering and space exploration to biomedical research and AI development.
Enrichment Day was a fantastic success, sparking curiosity and excitement about the endless possibilities within STEM. Who knows? The next great innovator or problem solver could be sitting in our very own classrooms today!
