Celebrating Humanities in Year 7

This year it has become clear how important local and global communities are. This is why in BMS we have created a whole scheme of work for humanities focused on communities. In RE students have been working on creating Religious buildings. This is showcasing the importance of buildings, rules and certain practises within different religions. Students have really enjoyed making their structures.

RE is not alone, the history department has also been planning fun project work based on medieval communities, predominantly focused on the Anglo-Saxons and comparing that with the modern day. Students have been creating booklets (as pictured) with lots of contrasting facts and figures.

To round up the work communities project in geography students have been making top trump cards with obscure countries on them. They have learnt about the population, life expectancy and income of the country. Students especially enjoyed playing with their top trump cards at the end of the lesson!
