Consideration
On Tuesday of this week it was a privilege to join Assistant Pastoral Manager Mr Annan-Forson and our fantastic Year 8 cohort in their year group assembly based on the Theme of the Week Consideration. As a year group they demonstrate much consideration for each other, their teachers and learning assistants and in their general conduct around school.
As Mr Annan Forson reminded them, it is often the little acts of consideration that mean so much: holding a door open for another person, picking up some litter at break or lunchtime, listening quietly in class when someone else is speaking, ensuring they pack their school bag with all the equipment and books needed for the next day, generally working hard in and out of school, speaking kindly to others, having a mind to be kind and even just simply smiling at another person are all examples of how we can be considerate and examples that our Year 8 students have demonstrated.
Underlying his overall message that started the day so positively was the well known saying ‘Treat others how you want to be treated yourself’. The reflection time at the end of the assembly provided an opportunity for all students to consider that, if we all did that, the world would be an even better place – something we try to establish and maintain on a daily basis at Bushey Meads.
