During these continued challenging times another major adaptation we have had to make as a school has been to move towards an online system for Parent Consultation Evenings. Our first parents’ evening using this new approach was last week on Thursday, being the Year 11 Parents’ Consultation Evening.
As always I would like to thank all staff at the school and all parents and carers for adapting so well and embracing the technological approach. In addition a huge ‘thank you’ goes to Assistant Headteacher Mr Varsani and the IT Team here at BMS who implemented the training and IT support to ensure success.
Inevitably there were a few teething problems which will need ironing out as the year progresses, but there was a huge amount of really positive feedback from all stakeholders as to our approach, which was very pleasing – epitomised by one of many emails received below.
Our Year 11 students have been working hard in difficult circumstances this term and we wish them every continued success with their studies in this hugely important year. We also wish them well with their Sixth Form choices and major considerations about life beyond Year 11 this week and hope as many of them as possible gain those prestigious places in our outstanding Sixth Form here at Bushey Meads.
Dear Mr Turner,
I just wanted to express how impressed I was with the Year 11 online parent consultations last Thursday evening. I was worried it wouldn’t be the same as the face to face pre Coronavirus consultations but I was wrong. The teachers I had appointments with were polite, friendly, and professional (as usual) and were concise with the comments and information they gave my son and I. This video call system meant that our appointments all ran on time with no way of over running. Another less important point, but still positive, was that I didn’t have to find a car parking space! Please pass on my thanks to all my son’s teachers and for investing in a fantastic video call programme,
Kind regards,
Year 11 Parent of a Student in 11 Maple
