1R and 3Cs!
Assistant Pastoral Manager Miss Kent led a very powerful assembly on Wednesday morning of this week which was listened to by over 400 students and staff in Year 8 and 9 with great respect (one of our 3Rs).
Miss Kent focussed on the third R of our 3Rs ‘Relationships’ and outlined her thoughts and wisdom by unpicking 3Cs which, she explained if followed, would help build very positive relationships with everyone: Communication Compromise and Commitment.
She provided some examples from her own life – playing at a young age for Bushey Rangers Football Club and committing to the practices within a team and building positive relationships with the rest of the squad and her coach to turn a losing team into a winning one.
She also talked about the compromises she had to make through school to overcome the challenges of passing her maths GCSE. Again building positive relationships with her maths teachers, she attended lunchtime masterclasses and after school revision sessions (compromising how she wanted to use her own free time) to ensure success in her upcoming examination.
What I was impressed with was how respectfully all the students listened to her wise words, demonstrating excellent, polite and reflective behaviour. It was great to see.
