On Thursday 3rd February, Year 7 students participated in a cross-curricular enrichment day.
Their day consisted of a session on the basketball courts playing handball (a popular game in France and Spain), a webquest activity on sports personalities in different countries (with a focus on French and Spanish speaking countries) and two hours in the gym or sports hall completing MFL interactive team games. The favourite game was four corners which involved students running to the correct corner of the room when the teacher said a key vocabulary item in the target language. We also played an alphabet game and students spelt out words in teams using mini whiteboards The map game was also very popular and tested students’ knowledge of other countries in the target language as well as their geography skills! The memory game, noughts and crosses, Happy Families and the relay vocab game also focused on key vocabulary as well as team skills.
The day ended with interactive quizzes which brought together students’ knowledge of MFL, PE and geography. Thank you to Year 7 students for engaging so well in the activities and to all participating staff!
