Year 12 Resit GCSE English Exam

This week, a group of nine Year 12 pupils sat their GCSE English Language resit exams.

The exams consisted of two papers which are both one hour and forty five minutes long. In the first paper, students had to read a fiction extract before answering four questions on it. After, the students had the choice of completing either a piece of story writing or a piece of descriptive writing. Whereas, in the second paper, students had to read two non-fiction extracts before answering four reading questions – two of the questions asked students to consider only one of the sources but the other two questions asked students to compare the texts. These reading questions were then followed by a piece of extended non-fiction writing.

Students have been working hard, both inside and outside of lessons, to prepare for these exams. They have been practising their reading, analytical, comparison and creative writing skills with both Miss Denton and Mrs Levy.

The students were also given some helpful revision aids before the half term break and encouraged to go through past papers under timed conditions to further help them prepare for the exams.

We wish these students every success with their results and look forward to hearing some positive news in January!
