Y13 Interview Day
On 21st January we had our first round of Year 13 interviews. During the interviews students presented their CVs and had the opportunity to talk about their career aspirations.
We welcomed employers from Kraft Heinz, TK Maxx, Thames Water, Align JV and Sky Studios. They listened to our students and feedback on how to improve their CV and how to present themselves in interview situations. The employers were impressed at the wealth of skill and experience some of our students had and how confidently they presented themselves.
There were lots of nerves before the interviews but students embraced the experience and found it beneficial, growing in confidence as they were coached through the interview.

During the interview, my interviewer was very understanding and willing to listen to my plan for school and further education while sharing his own story and experiences which related to me. As soon as I sat down he made sure I knew he was there for any questions I had while building my ideas and core values for interviewing. He also gave very helpful feedback on my answers to questions and helped develop my understanding of the interviewing process in what employers want to see and what not. Overall I have come out of the interview with a deeper understanding of the employment process, higher education and networking myself to the right people.

I was interviewed by James from AlignJV who are an engineering company currently working on HS2.  I was asked some questions about myself. First he looked at my CV and he was really impressed with how my CV was laid out which really helped me realise I was doing the right thing by presenting my CV.
He then asked me a couple questions about how my work experience will help my future career. For example I want to study law in the future and I have a job in a marketing company where I have to be very customer based. In these events I would speak to the cause explaining what the product is. This would help with a law firm when talking to my clients.

I think the interview was very useful and it helped me see and understand how an interview may work in the future when I’m applying for jobs.
