World Book Day @ Bushey Meads

Even though we weren’t yet all back to school on Thursday 4th March, BMS still celebrated World Book Day in style.

Students battled it out in CD groups with a book quiz and teachers went on to open every lesson with an ‘inspiring book/author’ starter. There was such a wonderful variety of personal experiences shared covering the books that hold a special significance for us. There is a display of these in the LRC and reception screens.

It was great to see and hear about a wide range of activities the students took part in across subjects including quizzes and student presentations in online English lessons and book themed activities across the MFL faculty.

The cake decorating competition was a real hit, but it was particularly cruel that the teachers could only vote on the photographs and not sample some of the delicious looking entries! (watch out for more details of the fantastic cakes in Mrs Turton’s newsletter article) One cake was even a group effort with students decorating it during CD time-well done year 10!

All students also received a WBD token for £1.00. These can be offset against the cost of any book, or used to purchase one of the featured World Book Day titles.

We hope that some of the titles and authors featured across the day at BMS inspire you to pick up a book today.
