Despite all the anxiety caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and numerous restrictions that have been placed on schools, we were delighted that 150 Year 6 students attended our hugely important Year 6 Transition Day last Friday. This clearly shows the faith that so many parents and carers have in the hard working and dedicated staff at Bushey Meads.
Most schools took the view that it was not possible to safely organise this type of day but I must pay tribute to Senior Assistant Headteacher Mr Searle and Pastoral Manager Mrs Smart who masterminded the organisation of the day and eliminated, as much as possible, any risk to students or staff.
All the DfE guidelines were followed and the organisation and attention to detail was second to none. All the students felt safe, were really happy throughout the day and, from speaking to many parents and carers on the school gates, were extremely grateful for the opportunity to join us before the summer break. They also had the opportunity to meet their Character Development Coach (Form Tutor) who will play a significant role in their life at Bushey Meads over many years to come which was a very important and positive aspect of the day.
Since June 1st we have actually welcomed back to the school over 730 students and to do this safely have put in place all the necessary protocols, so we were well placed to facilitate this important day in the life of our new Year 7 cohort. We hope that fears have been allayed, friendships have been made and they are looking forward even more to joining us in September.
Enjoy the pictures from the day which capture the positive atmosphere.
