Update from the D&T Department
For our latest project, in order to allow students at home, and in school, to be able to complete the same projects Year 8 have been designing and making marble runs over the past few weeks.
The design process was undertaken using both the traditional paper and pencil option, as well as using a 3D computer designing program called ‘Tinkercad’.Students submitted their designs, and then we started the making process.
The final products have been completed using a variety of materials, from books on the stairs to motors and cardboard tubes. The students were asked to whatever materials they could find at home.
Feedback from the students has been positive, as it was a project that they could all achieve in, and they had great fun while they were learning. They managed to share ideas, as well as work together in class to design their run.
Samuel Harries was the winner of the competition as he really did manage to ‘think outside the box’ for his design.
