It was a privilege to join Miss Pattni’s Year 11 online classroom on Tuesday afternoon of this week and see how well her students were engaging from home in their continued studies in their Design and Technology Textiles GCSE course.
Despite the obvious difficulties of not being in the actual room with their outstanding teacher (who is a Senior Advanced Lead Teacher and a key member of the superb Teaching and Learning Team here at the school) they were all doing their best to keep up with the learning.
Miss Pattni talked them through some excellent resources focussed on design communication, facilitated an excellent question and answer session, with students contributing via the group chat or through the microphones, set them a task to design a flow chart and encouraged them to share their work via the cameras and engaged them in a lively debate about how designers portray their clothing models.
It was very impressive and nicely leads on to some modified home-based practical work in their next lesson.
I would like to thank all staff and students for how well they have adapted to this new landscape we find ourselves in and encourage you all to keep doing your best at this challenging time.
