This week our Mental Health Champions travelled a stones throw to our St James Trust sister school to attend an assembly led by the mental health charity “Mind”. In this assembly they went through all the essential skills and knowledge about mental health and introduced their new app, With YOUth. This contains a varied bank of resources, information and enticing work sheets based around building positive habits lifes skills and coping mechanisms in order to deal with the changes and stresses that life has to offer. These skills can be taken into through all stages of life. With a flurry of excited volunteers  the mind representatives also introduced a space based video game called “Lumi Nova”. Approved and developed in partnership with the NHS this video game  aims to help children with anxieties such as separation anxiety and  phobias. The app included various challenges to complete and a comprehensive management to ensure a positive amount of screen time is maintained. After discussing the apps the mental health champions have agreed to trial each app and give feedback.

Within the Mind Hertfordshire Network there is lots of support on offer for people, not just young people,  struggling with their mental health from workshops and drop in to apps and instant messaging for people in crisis.
