Leading in Literacy
We are all aware of the huge importance of literacy and how it underpins all learning. As a school we do everything we can to develop the literacy of all our learners and are delighted that Ms Druce, our new Lead Practitioner for English and Whole School Literacy is heading up that important agenda across Bushey Meads School.
Our Word of the Week initiative is being developed further to strengthen a greater understanding of words and their meanings; on Friday last week Ms Druce highlighted the role that CDCs have in delivering high quality CDC sessions to support literacy development. Every week there will be an engaging activity to participate in, encompassing gaining a real understanding of Greek and Latin word roots which can then be applied across all curriculum areas.
We look forward to all students expanding their vocabulary and developing their literacy knowledge as they continue to Aspire to Achieve at BMS.
