RE enrichment day

On Thursday 1st the RE department was thrilled to lead the humanities faculty in delivering our Year 10 RE  enrichment day. The day’s activities were focused on delivering the full breadth of Religious Education. This included philosophical debates on life after death, ethical dilemmas based on crime and  Bible referencing skills. We also looked at the relevance of RE in everyday life and jobs whereby knowledge of Religious views would be crucial.

Joseph Gill, a year 10 GCSE RE student wrote this report;

 Students were given the opportunity to explore RE last Thursday on Enrichment Day, with activities such as a Treasure Hunt, a Courtroom re-enactment and a chance to express themselves through a short video or social media post about RE.

Throughout these tasks, students were encouraged to reflect on how RE presents itself in their everyday lives. One task revolved around Life after Death. Students were engaged by reflecting on their own beliefs and what they thought would happen after they died – a topic that some found interesting, and others quite grim! Other tasks took into account how different careers rely on RE; such as careers in Medicine, Law and even cuisine.

Students particularly enjoyed the treasure hunt; searching the school for clues to lead them on. With a confectionary prize stirring things up, competition was at its peak! Each clue helped form an anagram that unscrambled to form the word RESURRECTION, an appropriate end to this enrichment day.
