Outstanding Year 10 Scientists at BMS
It was a privilege to join the top set Year 10 scientists last week for their lesson led by Mrs Razavi and see them all pack in so much learning about the reactivity series.
Their written classworks indicated their commitment and the pride they clearly take in their work; the books were all beautifully presented. Students were assessing their work in a whole variety of ways using the various assessment stickers we use at Bushey Meads School and were also responding thoughtfully in purple pen to the regular green pen comments and marking by the teacher.
The students used mini whiteboards effectively to demonstrate their understanding and this enabled the teacher to assess their prior knowledge and pick up on any misconceptions in the room.
They participated in a well organised practical experiment to support their theoretical learning and not a single minute in the lesson was wasted.
I would like to congratulate all the top scientists who are working so hard and their teacher for supporting them so effectively in their learning journey – it was powerful to see.
The culture and ethos of the school permeated throughout the lesson – even reinforced by the reminder on the whiteboard at the front of the classroom by Mrs Razavi’s Word of the Week and Theme of the Week display.
