International Cheerleading Success!

We are very proud of two of our talented Year 8 students Abigail and Freya who have recently competed at The Summit which is one of the main international cheerleading competitions in the world for level junior and senior teams.

Founded in 2013, the competition is open to teams from the US and across the world and is a highly competitive event. Only teams who earn ‘bids’ throughout the season are able to compete, making it an exclusive, ‘best of the best’ competition. Bids are typically given out to some of the winning and highest-scoring teams who compete at various different cheerleading competitions at both local and national events.

The competition is held every year in early May and takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida. While it’s not an official title, The Summit is often referred to as the World championship for younger level teams and has become the biggest, most prestigious competition for many teams around the world.

By competing at the event Abigail and Freya were realising one of their cheerleading dreams and they certainly did everyone proud. Their team gained one of only 34 spaces in the UK to take part in competition, where they were joined by 1500 other teams from all over the world.

Their team entered into the U17 international category in which there were 40 teams competing. They did amazingly well and are now ranked 27th in the world!

As a school and with their family we couldn’t be prouder. In their competition they also ‘hit zero’ which meant there were no deductions for any falls or mistakes. All their hard work and dedication over many years and their major contribution to their team has most definitely paid off.

Do enjoy the photos and the video routine from the competition.
