Fabulous Friday Focus
Each Friday morning the school falls silent and all CDC Groups enjoy a time when their CDC reads to them from a carefully chosen text.
This weekly initiative across the school serves to strengthen further our embedded literacy agenda and helps to expose all students to carefully chosen age-related, but challenging texts, enabling them to develop a rich and vibrant expanse of language possibilities in their own writing.
I was particularly impressed with the classes I visited in the Science Block and would like to thank all staff and students for their commitment to the weekly activity which serves as a great way to start a Friday at BMS.
All students were following the text carefully, some using their specially designed BMS Bookmark; Learning Assistants and Character Development Coaches were reading to their CDC groups and some also had the text displayed on the interactive whiteboard.
As we know literacy underpins all learning so as parents and carers do encourage your children to read outside of school as much as they can – it all helps!
