Diversity and Inclusion In Business Studies

At present, around 1 in 3 UK entrepreneurs is female and that number is growing fast. Following on from Mr Turner’s informative assembly on Diversity and Inclusion last week and remembering also that Wednesday 8th March was International Women’s Day, I decided to introduce our students in Year 13 Business Studies to the successes of women entrepreneurs from the UK and from around the world.

Students were tasked with researching issues such as how we can overcome some of the barriers to women entrepreneurship, how female-led start-ups can transform Africa and best practices for female entrepreneurs to succeed. We also looked at the achievements of 12 inspiring female entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia. Students then presented their findings to the class.

I am sure that there are many great female entrepreneurs in the making at Bushey Meads School and I strongly encourage girls in Year 9 and 11 to consider Business and Economics when choosing their future study options.
