Creative Writing Club Goes Online!
It seems that so many aspects of our lives have taken a bit of a hiatus since we all started working from home, and creative writing club has been no exception. Obviously, our usual Thursday lunchtime meetings in E3 have become impossible, and so we have turned to email to keep the club going until we can get back to school.
I have been sending out weekly prompts to members of the group to encourage them to keep up with their creative writing under the ‘new normal. So far, these have included Danusha Laméris’s brilliant poem ‘Small Kindnesses’ (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/19/magazine/poem-small-kindnesses.html) which really exemplifies our lovely BMS ‘Mind to Be Kind’; a prompt based around the recent removal of the statue of Edward Colston in Bristol as part of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement; and a prompt based around the theme of ‘victory’ for the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
If you think that your ‘lockdown life’ needs an injection of creativity and would like to get involved, drop me an email at smithsl@busheymeads.org.uk to be put on the mailing list to receive next week’s prompt.
