Leading the Way: Sharing Our Inclusive...

For years, Bushey Meads has been strong on inclusive education. While many
schools struggle to accommodate students with Education and Health Care Plans,
often citing the gap between student needs and mainstream secondary expectations,
we have been working hard to meet those needs. Through our bespoke Pathway
curriculum, we’ve proven that students working below Key Stage 2 levels can thrive
in a secondary setting.
Bushey Meads School has now partnered with DSPL9, Herts For Learning and
Garston Manor School to launch a landmark project designed to upscale SEND
expertise across all local schools, ensuring that all year seven students entering at
pre- KS 2 levels to access a secondary curriculum.
The inaugural meeting for participating schools took place on 20th April 2026 at
Garston Manor School. Our SENDCO Mrs Seed and Pathway Coordinator and
Specialist SEND teacher Mrs McNaughton attended the event. Mrs McNaughton
delivered a well- received presentation on a typical Year 7 English lesson to
representatives from 7 local schools.
Bushey Meads will continue to support this project and are excited to showcase the
incredible work happening in our classrooms every day and to help shape a more
inclusive future for students across the county.
