In celebration of science week our Lead Practitioner and Lead Teacher of Biology ; Miss Atchuthan, conducted an eye dissection for our Year 13 Biologists. Having recently completed the eye’s receptors and neural pathways in lesson, this excellent opportunity allowed the students to enhance their practical knowledge of a dissection, whilst understanding the complex structures of a cow’s eye. After cutting through tough outer layers, the students became more intrigued to explore the hidden, detailed features of the eye, such as the sclera, retina, optic nerve and more. This practical gave the students the ability to visualise and understand biological processes which commence in this vital organ and the significance it has in our daily lives. As a whole, this session was both enjoyable and educational, allowing a hands-on experience for our aspiring biologists
