BMS Senior Leaders Sharing Best Practice

As a school we have always been outward facing and willing to share best practice with schools across the country for the benefit of helping all children Aspire to Achieve and reach their true potential. Our vibrant website always attracts a lot of interest and many schools contact us for further details about our outstanding provision.

One school this week was Park High School, an outstanding school in Stanmore that prides themselves on ‘having a national reputation for academic excellence’ but still clearly wanting to learn from other learning communities such as ours.

Assistant Headteacher Mrs Till led an online training session this week for their school leader who oversees the all-important literacy agenda at Park High School and took the opportunity to showcase our embedded use of Bedrock Vocabulary, our phonics programme, our Word of the Week and how we consolidate learning at KS2 through our varied literacy interventions, cohesive reading agenda and of course our DEAR events scheduled throughout the year.

A good discussion was held in relation to Fluency Talk, Thinking and Reading, next steps with staff CPD. The key member of staff who engaged with the training session were really appreciative of Mrs Till’s time and stated that she learned an awful lot and will be working hard to implement all of the best practice shared. She was really impressed with our personalised approach and the time students get to be with teachers in this area being appropriately pushed and challenged in learning.
